At a hearing before the Washtenaw County Election Board this morning, the wording of the Petition for Recall of Gov. Snyder was approved on a 2-1 vote.

The language, submitted to the Board by Michigan Citizens United, reads:
Richard D. Snyder has requested from the legislature, approved and signed various laws that take authority and funds from local governments and school districts and vest them with the state. He has obtained for himself, through his appointed Emergency Financial Managers, the power to invalidate legal and binding contracts entered into by properly elected local authorities. He has sought tax increases upon retirees and lower income families, but instead of addressing the deficit, he has sought large new tax cuts for corporations and businesses.
I've been skeptical of the chances for success, but now that the petition language has been approved and signatures can start to be gathered, the key question that we will see over the next few days is how quick out of the blocks are the recall backers? Specifically, will petitions be circulated around the state outside (at least 100' away) polling places next Tuesday? This will be an early indication of real this effort will be.
By the way, the vote against was cast by County Treasurer Catherine McClary, who is a Democrat, so this was not a partisan vote.
